Interesting Findings
- “Umbrella” is the most searched song in Arizona, Arkansas, Indiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee. This song has over 986 million streams on Spotify.
- What do California and Texas have in common? Their love for “Only Girl (In the World),” searched most in 10 states.
- Rihanna’s eighth studio album, ANTI, presents three of the top twelve songs in our chart: “Love on the Brain” (7 states), “Work” (5 states), and “Needed Me” (4 states).
Methodology
We gathered a total of 43 of Rihanna’s most popular songs from the Billboard Hot 100, Rihanna’s Billboard Chart History, and Spotify. Then, we used SemRush, a marketing analytics tool, to gather volume searches for each song. To pick the most searched songs per state, we used Google Trends, a website by Google that analyzes the popularity of top search queries in Google searches across states. We gathered this data in November 2022.
