Find Compatible Modems and Routers
To make the most of your CenturyLink internet, you need a CenturyLink-compatible modem and router or modem/router combination. Customers can lease modems and routers from CenturyLink to get up-to-date equipment suited to your speed plan, home, and location.
Prefer to purchase your own equipment instead of paying a monthly leasing fee? Make sure you choose a CenturyLink-compatible modem. Many ZyXEL and Actiontec modems work with CenturyLink internet, but check the comprehensive list of CenturyLink-compatible equipment to ensure your modem both works with your internet plan and maximizes your speed.
Troubleshoot Internet Connectivity Issues
If your web-enabled devices won’t connect to the internet, you can try a few quick fixes before calling or chatting customer service for help. Take the following steps:
- Unplug your modem, let it sit for at least sixty seconds, plug it back in, and wait for all the buttons on the front to light up before attempting to reconnect your device.
- Ensure the modem’s cables are plugged into the phone jack.
- If you bought your own equipment, make sure your modem is the right make and model for your speed plan.
- Make sure both your browser and your modem’s firmware are up to date.
